This compact exhibit introduces visitors to a little beach town with a big personality. It's the playground of movie stars and seaside escape of L.A. city dwellers, famed for its palisades and amusement piers. It’s where Route 66 ends, Muscle Beach was born and Douglas Aircraft boomed. All-new exhibits and a significant photographic collection tell these stories and more, including news-making political scuffles and civic projects, and the Native Americans, Spanish settlers and Mexican ranch-owners who first lived here.
