PROJECTS

An array of artifacts and a re-created historic mercantile store give visitors a glimpse of Park City’s lively past.

A restored stagecoach and a re-created 19th Century railcar tell the story of the town’s early settlement.

A scaled section of a mine—complete with tunnels, ore cars and a Cornish pump—stretches two stories high.

Everyone has a chance to simulate some of the dangerous jobs of miners.

Colorful characters who served time in the Park City jail, are featured in an "interactive mug book."

Visitors take a "trip" through Park City’s boom and bust days via a video in an authentic "skier’s subway" car.

Park City Museum
PARK CITY, UT
With a unique and lively history to tell, the Park City Historical Society & Museum has embarked on a major expansion project that includes newly-designed exhibits in its historic buildings and planned addition. The new exhibits will bring to life the stories of an independent, spirited community and the economic, political, and social structures that set it apart from other Western communities.

Interactive experiences will take visitors back to the boom and bust days of mining, introduce them to the rich and diverse cultures that resulted from a mining-dependent community, and acquaint them with the efficient transportation industries that were spurred on by the city’s productive mines. A key attraction will be a re-created “mine wall,” running the height of the museum’s three floors and revealing an entire mining landscape, complete with tunnels, mining equipment and operations. Exhibits will also feature key artifacts from the museum’s extensive collection of the past 20 years.
