Levi Strauss & Co.: The Vault
SAN FRANCISCO, CA
One of the most fascinating corporate archives in the world is celebrated in Levi Strauss & Co.’s “Vault,” located in the lobby of its San Francisco headquarters. Through innovative displays and exhibits, the company shares with the public its remarkable collection of historic clothing, photographs, films, posters, advertising materials and artifacts—some dating back to the mid-1800s. One exhibit invites them to scan a “dry cleaners” rack of vintage Levi’s® western shirts, while another leaves them in awe of a pair of Levi’s® jeans from the early 1900s. Visitors might also be surprised to discover that the archives are often used by their designers for inspiration and new product ideas.
