PROJECTS

A young space traveler explores Saturn.

Scale models of the planets and their orbits float over the exhibit space.

Compare the gravitational pull of the Sun and planets with the help of "solar" soda cans.

Try lifting a meteorite... it’s heavier than you think.

Create your own volcanic erruption!

Drop "meteorites" into a sand bed to create craters of different sizes.

An internally projected globe lets visitors compare planets in their solar system.

A series of interactive sculptures reveal the mysteries of planetary science phenomena.

Chabot Space & Science Center: Solar-Go-Round
OAKLAND, CA
Exhibits in Solar-Go-Round take visitors on a tour of the solar system, from the radiant Sun and the ringed planet Saturn, to giant Jupiter and far-away Pluto. They discover what makes the planets go round, design a solar system and launch planets into orbit. Interactive exhibits allow visitors to search for signs of water on other planets, find out about the weather on Mars and Titan, and learn how telescopes and robotic spacecraft are helping us explore our planetary neighbor.

We find the children are more engaged because of the color and the feeling. They spend more time reading, and parents spend more time exploring.
